Figure 12-1 shows a typicalsystem.DebughostHost computer running RealView DebuggerProtocolconverterfor example, RealView ICEDebugtargetDevelopment system containing processorFigure 12-1 Typical debug systemThis typical system has three parts:• Debug host• Protocol converter• Debug target on page 12-3.12.1.1 Debug hostThe debug host is a computer, for example a personal computer, running a softwaredebugger such as RealView Debugger. The debug host enables you to issue high-levelcommands such as setting a breakpoint at a certain location, or examining the contentsof a memory address.12.1.2 Protocol converterThe debug host sends messages to the debug target using an interface such as Ethernet.However, the debug target typically implements a different interface protocol.
