LECLERC, PHILIPPE<br />

Having trained as a musician, he joined the animation<br />

workshop <strong>of</strong> the Beaux-Arts <strong>of</strong> Reims. In the early<br />

1980s, he settled in Paris, where he made his fi lm<br />

debut as a trace and paint artist (1976 Les Douze<br />

Travaux d’Astérix, René Goscinny, Henri Gruel, Albert<br />

Uderzo, Pierre Watrin) and successively worked as an<br />

animator (1980 Le Roi et l’Oiseau, Paul Grimault; 1988<br />

La Table tournante, Paul Grimault) and fi rst assistant<br />

director (1988 Gandahar / USA: Light Years, France<br />

/ North Korea) before directing his own animated<br />

fi lms. In 1992, he founded his own studio, Praxinos.<br />

He appeared as himself in the documentary Paul<br />

Grimault, Image par Image (Fabienne Issartel, 2003).<br />
