LECLERC, PHILIPPE
Having trained as a musician, he joined the animation
workshop of the Beaux-Arts of Reims. In the early
1980s, he settled in Paris, where he made his fi lm
debut as a trace and paint artist (1976 Les Douze
Travaux d’Astérix, René Goscinny, Henri Gruel, Albert
Uderzo, Pierre Watrin) and successively worked as an
animator (1980 Le Roi et l’Oiseau, Paul Grimault; 1988
La Table tournante, Paul Grimault) and fi rst assistant
director (1988 Gandahar / USA: Light Years, France
/ North Korea) before directing his own animated
fi lms. In 1992, he founded his own studio, Praxinos.
He appeared as himself in the documentary Paul
Grimault, Image par Image (Fabienne Issartel, 2003).
