He arrived in France in 1925 and soon became a<br />

praised playwright and stage director. His play La<br />

Comédie du Bonheur (Samoe Glavnoe) was created at<br />

the Théâtre de l’Atelier in 1927 and brought to the<br />

screen in 1940 (La Comédie du Bonheur / Ecco la felicità,<br />

Marcel L’Herbier; France / Italy). A historian <strong>of</strong><br />
