The daughter <strong>of</strong> screenwriter Jacques Companéez<br />

(1906–1956), she gave up her studies at the<br />

Sorbonne after the death <strong>of</strong> her father to become a<br />

fi lm editor. In 1960, she met young director Michel<br />

Deville and co-wrote a dozen <strong>of</strong> his fi lms (1961 Ce<br />
