PÉRIER, ETIENNE (December 11, 1931, Brussels,
Belgium–)
He spent his childhood in New York and returned
to Belgium in 1946. After studying for four years at
the Brussels faculty of law, he settled in Paris, where
he worked as a trainee at the Éclair laboratories and
served as an assistant director (1954 Le Grand Jeu
/ Il grande gioco / UK: Card of Fate / USA: Flesh and
the Woman, Robert Siodmak, France / Italy; 1955 Les
Diaboliques / UK: The Fiends / USA: Diabolique / US
TV: The Devils, Henri-Georges Clouzot). He made
his directing debut at age twenty-two shooting
shorts. Other credit (as actor): 1980 La Banquière
(Francis Girod).
