MOREAU, DAVID (July 7, 1976, Boulogne-Billancourt,<br />

Hauts-de-Seine, France–) and PALUD, XAVIER<br />

The son <strong>of</strong> director Hervé Palud, Xavier Palud studied<br />

for a year at the ESCA (Ecole Supérieure de<br />

Cinéastes et d’Acteurs) before entering fi lms as an<br />

apprentice assistant director (1994 Un Indien dans<br />

la Ville, Hervé Palud). Working as an extra on the TV<br />

series H in 1998, he met David Moreau, a former<br />

student at the ESRA (Ecole Supérieure de Réalisation<br />

Audiovisuelle), who served as an assistant director.<br />

They wrote three pilots <strong>of</strong> a TV series that never<br />

was fi lmed before shooting their fi rst horror movie.<br />

After her studies in dramatic arts at the Paris Conservatory<br />

with Denis d’Inès, she became a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Comédie-Française (1948–1952) before joining<br />

Jean Vilar’s TNP (Théâtre National Populaire) in 1953.<br />

From 1948 (Dernier Amour, Jean Stelli) to 2008 (Plus<br />

Tard / Meuhar Yotar / Later / USA: One Day You’ll Understand,<br />

Amos Gitai, France / Germany / Israel), she<br />

played supporting roles or starred in more than 100<br />

movies. In the 1970s, she tried her luck as a fi lm director.<br />

A former educator, she made her stage debut in the<br />

late 1970s and played her fi rst one-woman show in<br />

1982 (Sale Affaire, du Sexe et du Crime). She became<br />

famous with <strong>French</strong> audiences as a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Jerôme Deschamps company and a performer <strong>of</strong><br />

sketches, including Les Deschiens, the characters<br />

created by Deschamps, shown on the Canal Plus TV<br />

channel in 1994. From 1984 (7p., cuis, s. de B., . . . (à<br />

saisir), short, Agnès Varda) to 2008 (Micmacs à Tire-Larigot),<br />

she played in almost fi fty movies.<br />

sauvages / UK: The Wild Reeds / USA: Wild Reeds<br />

(1994). Parallel with his directing work, he played
