After completing her studies in philosophy at the<br />

Ecole Normale Supérieure, she earned a diploma in<br />

sexology and public health. She shot documentaries<br />

for TV and cinema and a fi ction short.<br />

CRESTÉ, RENÉ (December 5, 1881, Paris, France–<br />

November 30, 1922, Paris, France)<br />

A stage performer since 1901, he made his fi lm debut in<br />

1910 (La Chatte métamorphosée en Femme, short, Michel<br />

Carré) and played in about thirty fi lms until his death.<br />

His name is linked to Louis Feuillade, and he remains<br />

best remembered for his portrayal <strong>of</strong> Judex (1916<br />

Judex, twelve episodes; 1917 La Nouvelle Mission de<br />

Judex / USA: The New Mission <strong>of</strong> Judex, twelve episodes).<br />

In 1918, he created his own production company,<br />

Les <strong>Film</strong>s René Cresté. Unfortunately, the movies he<br />

produced, directed, and performed were commercial<br />

failures, and he tried to earn a living running a movie<br />

theater (Le Cocorico) and playing the role <strong>of</strong> Judex in a<br />

show at the Gaîté-Rochechouart. He was ruined when<br />

he died <strong>of</strong> tuberculosis at age forty.<br />

He studied at the Nice Beaux-Arts school and<br />

graduated with a superior national diploma in plastic<br />

art from the Havre Beaux-Arts school. He served<br />

She directed her fi rst short at age sixteen. In 1967,<br />

she enrolled in the Nanterre Audiovisual Center and<br />

failed the entrance examination for the IDHEC. An<br />

editor mostly with Frédéric Rossif until 1978, she<br />

founded a production company, Adria <strong>Film</strong>s, which<br />

fi nanced shorts. She worked as a unit production<br />

manager (1976 Les Derniers beaux Jours, short, also<br />

sound engineer, Jean-Yves Rondière) and produced
