After studying law in Bordeaux, he became a customs<br />

inspector in 1968. Having settled in Paris, he<br />

bought a camera and directed fi ve amateur shorts<br />

(1971–1975) before fi lming his fi rst pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

movie. He also appeared as himself in Au Cœur de la<br />

petite Chartreuse (Jean-Noël Betzler, 2005).<br />
