A pupil <strong>of</strong> painter Robert Lapoujade, he exhibited his<br />

fi rst works in the early 1960s. He was an assistant<br />

director to Lapoujade on shorts (1961–1968) and<br />

feature fi lms (1968 Le Socrate, shot in 1966; 1973 Le<br />

Sourire vertical) and to Jean Rollin (1971 Vierges et<br />

Vampires / Requiem pour un Vampire / UK: Caged Vampires<br />

/ USA: Caged Virgins / Virgins and Vampires; 1973<br />

La Rose de Fer / La Nuit du Cimetière / UK and USA:<br />

The Iron Rose; 2002 La Fiancée de Dracula). While creating<br />
