In 1967, he settled in Paris, where he started publishing<br />

texts in Téléciné, Tribune Socialiste (1967–1970),<br />

Les Cahiers du Cinéma (1977–1991), Le Monde (1980–<br />

1982, 1992–1997), Libération (1982–1983), and Art<br />

Press (1986–1998). In December 1968, he founded<br />

the review Cinéthique (1968–1973). In 1969, he began<br />

co-directing 16-mm movies with members <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Cinéthique group. He appeared in several fi lms (1970<br />

La Fin des Pyrénées, Jean-Pierre Lajournade; 1991<br />

Cinématon, documentary, as himself, Gérard Courant;<br />
