notably portrayed Bébé’s mother in Louis Feuillade’s<br />

Having trained at the Institut National des Sports de<br />

Paris and at the Ecole Magistrale d’Escrime, he became<br />

a high school physical education teacher (1946–<br />

1948). From 1948 to 1951, he was fencing master<br />

at the court <strong>of</strong> the Great Duchy <strong>of</strong> Luxembourg.<br />

He took part in the France championship <strong>of</strong> fencing<br />

masters in 1956 and was selected for the world<br />

championship in 1958. He entered fi lms in 1952 as a
