EBRARD, FRANÇOISE (August 6, 1962, Alès,<br />

Gard, France–)<br />

She spent her childhood in Guinea and came back<br />

to France in 1973. After receiving a fi rst degree<br />

in art history, she entered fi lms as a trainee in the<br />

laboratories <strong>of</strong> Joinville-le-Pont before beginning to<br />

work as a press attaché. From 1985 to 1987, she was<br />

an assistant director on fi lms (1987 Beyond Therapy,<br />

Robert Altman, USA; Cayenne Palace, Alain Maline;<br />

1988 Saxo, as Françoise Ebrard-Casanova). She also<br />

wrote a book: Cayenne Palace: Histoire d’un <strong>Film</strong> (Editions<br />

Paul Putti, 1987).<br />

Claude Treilhou, who helped her obtain money from<br />

the INA (Institut National de l’Audiovisuel) in order<br />

to shoot her fi rst feature fi lm. Despite an award<br />

received at the Belfort <strong>Film</strong> Festival, her movie remained<br />

unreleased theatrically and was shown only<br />

on TV. She also wrote detective radio plays and<br />
