He prepared at L’Ecole des Arts et Métiers and L’Ecole<br />

des Travaux Publics. After taking part in the liberation<br />

<strong>of</strong> France, he studied philosophy at the Sorbonne. In<br />

1949, he became a member <strong>of</strong> the libertarian movement<br />

and began a career as a journalist. The following<br />

year, he joined the avant-garde lettrist group and created<br />

two reviews, one political (Front de la Jeunesse)<br />

and the other literary and pictorial (Ur). A poet,<br />

novelist, plastician, photographer, and experimental<br />

fi lmmaker, he appeared as an actor or as himself in<br />

several movies (1951 Traité de Bave et d’Eternité / USA:<br />

Venom and Eternity, also assistant director, Isidore<br />

Isou; 1970 La Vampire nue / UK: The Naked Vampire /<br />

USA: The Nude Vampire, Jean Rollin; 2004 Le Fantôme<br />

d’Henri Langlois / UK: Henri Langlois: The Phantom <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Cinematheque / USA: Henri Langlois: The Phantom <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Cinematheque, documentary, Jacques Renard; 2007 La<br />

Nuit des Horloges / La Nuit transfi gurée, Jean Rollin) and<br />

wrote the dialogue <strong>of</strong> Jean Rollin’s La Rose de Fer / UK<br />

and USA: The Iron Rose (1973). Having graduated with a<br />

PhD in literature, he taught painting and experimental<br />

cinema at the Sorbonne. He created and managed a<br />

psychological advising institute.<br />
