Romania–)<br />

The son <strong>of</strong> a communist Jewish Romanian journalist,<br />

he fl ed Ceaucescu’s dictatorship and took refuge in<br />

1980 in Paris, where he studied directing and fi lm<br />

editing at the IDHEC (1983). In 1984, he created his<br />

own production company, Blimp Productions, which<br />

fi nanced his fi rst shorts. He completed his apprenticeship<br />
