She studied literature and attended acting courses<br />

at the Lyon Conservatory. Spotted by director<br />

Bertrand Tavernier, she made her fi lm debut in<br />

L’Horloger de Saint-Paul / UK: The Watchmaker <strong>of</strong> St.<br />

Paul / USA: The Clockmaker <strong>of</strong> Saint-Paul in 1973. She<br />

played in more than thirty fi lms until 1994 (Regarde<br />

les Hommes tomber / UK and USA: See How They Fall,<br />

Jacques Audiard), including the fi rst she directed.<br />

Treated in a psychiatric clinic, she killed herself at<br />

age forty-two. Other credit (as co-screenwriter):<br />

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law from<br />

the University <strong>of</strong> Paris I and a diploma <strong>of</strong> communication<br />

sciences from the Sorbonne. In 1974, he entered<br />

the C.F.J. (journalist training center). During his studies,<br />

he appeared as an extra in movies directed by<br />

Georges Lautner, Jean-Paul Rappeneau, and Jacques<br />

Rouffi o before becoming a fi lm critic for the Europe<br />

1 radio channel in 1975, then at Canal Plus, France 2,<br />

Paris Première, France Info, and the weekly magazine<br />

Le Point. From 1981 to 1984, he was an advertising<br />

manager for Gaumont. In early 2004, he joined the<br />

Quinta company as a communications manager. He<br />

authored several books (1987 Pr<strong>of</strong>ession Cinéma, Editions<br />

Jean-Claude Lattès; 1988 Palmarès du Cinéma,<br />

Sylvie Messinger; 1997 Cannes, Cris et Chuchotements,<br />

Nil Editions; 2003 Idées reçues sur le Cinéma, Cavalier<br />

Bleu) and co-wrote documentaries (1984 Great<br />

Days <strong>of</strong> the Century, Georges Alépée, Gilles Delannoy,<br />

France / Canada / UK; 1992–1997 Stars en Stock, 120<br />

episodes). He played small parts in feature fi lms (1986<br />

Mon Beau-Frère a tué ma Soeur / UK festival: They’ve<br />

Killed Her!, Jacques Rouffi o; Le Débutant, Daniel Janneau)<br />

and TV movies (1982 Le Wagon de Martin, Patrick<br />

Saglio; 1997 Femmes chez Hitchcock, documentary,<br />

as himself, Jean Couturier, Jean Douchet; 2003<br />

Louis de Funès ou Le Pouvoir de faire rire, documentary,<br />
