AMAT, JORGE (Jorge Melchor / 1949, Paris, France–)<br />

The son <strong>of</strong> Spanish Republican who took refuge in<br />

France in 1939, he is a bachelor <strong>of</strong> cinema and plastic<br />

arts. Some <strong>of</strong> his teachers were directors (Jean Douchet,<br />

Jacques Rivette, Jean Painlevé). In 1973, he was an assistant<br />

director to Fernando Arrabal’s J’irai comme un Cheval<br />

fou / USA: I Will Go Like a Wild Horse / I Will Walk Like<br />

a Crazy Horse and played a small part in the fi lm.<br />

AMÉRIS, JEAN-PIERRE (July 26, 1961, Lyon,<br />

Rhône, France–)<br />

He had already shot three shorts in Lyon before<br />

moving to Paris and getting into IDHEC fi lm school<br />

in 1984. In order to earn his living in his native town,<br />

he had temped while he fi lmed his fi rst movies. Having<br />

graduated in 1987, he directed three other shorts,<br />

including Intérim, that won the Great Prize <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Clermont-Ferrand <strong>Film</strong> Festival.<br />
