A biologist, he began writing in the 1950s and adapted J.<br />

M. Synge’s The Playboy <strong>of</strong> the Western World for TV (1957<br />

Le Baladin du Monde occidental, Marcel Bluwal). He campaigned<br />

against the Algerian War and shot a clandestine<br />

report on the <strong>French</strong> police repression <strong>of</strong> a demonstration<br />

organized by the FLN in Paris in October 1961.<br />
