painter (1948–1958) before switching to the Boulevard
Theatre as a playwright. His fi rst play, La Bonne
Anna (1958), was a huge popular success. John Rich
fi lmed one of his works (1965 Boeing (707) Boeing
(707), USA), and he brought himself to the screen in
