The SELF<strong>TEST</strong> softkey opens a submenu with which the self test<br />

can be started.<br />

The instrument has extensive self test functions which<br />

comprehensively test instrument functionality. In case of a fault,<br />

the instrument can locate a defective module on its own. The self<br />

test sequence is described in more detail in the service manual<br />

instrument (supplied with the ESIB).<br />

EXECUTE<br />

<strong>TEST</strong>S<br />

The EXECUTE <strong>TEST</strong>S softkey starts the test of the complete instrument.<br />

During the self test a window is displayed:<br />

SELF<strong>TEST</strong><br />

in progress<br />

ABORT<br />

The functions are tested in the following order:<br />

1. Modules main CPU, digital motherboard, graphics and the interfaces<br />

2. Reference frequency conditioning, the synthesizer modules and all LO<br />

signals<br />

3. All RF, IF and signal-weighting modules<br />

If no failure occurs during the execution of the self test, the following message<br />

is displayed when the complete self test is finished:<br />

SELF<strong>TEST</strong><br />

successfully completed<br />

OK<br />

If a failure occurs during the execution of the self test, the self test is<br />

immediately aborted and a message indicating the defective module and the<br />

defective function is displayed:<br />

SELF<strong>TEST</strong> FAILED<br />

Further testing should be performed by an R&S service department.<br />
