1.2.3. BOP(Balance of Plant, turb<strong>in</strong>e & feed water)<br />

[Fig. 1.9] shows the subsystems <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> convert<strong>in</strong>g the heat energy of the steam <strong>in</strong><br />

the turb<strong>in</strong>e to rotational energy. In order to extract maximum energy from the steam, it<br />

needs to be condensed to a pressure and temperature that is as low as practicable. This<br />

takes place <strong>in</strong> the condenser, with the heat be<strong>in</strong>g removed to the environment by the<br />

condenser cool<strong>in</strong>g water by circulat<strong>in</strong>g water system.<br />

1.2.4. Safety Systems<br />

KSNP has several safety systems for the protection & mitigation of accident such as<br />

reactor protection system, ESF(Eng<strong>in</strong>eered Safety Feature). ESF consists of Conta<strong>in</strong>ment<br />

& Conta<strong>in</strong>ment Isolation System, Safety Injection System, Shutdown Cool<strong>in</strong>g System,<br />

Auxiliary Feedwater System etc..<br />
