7. Quality Assurance<br />

consideration of the technical aspects of the activities affect<strong>in</strong>g quality. The program shall<br />

provide control over activities affect<strong>in</strong>g quality to an extent consistent with their<br />

importance.<br />

The program shall provide for the plann<strong>in</strong>g and accomplishment of activities affect<strong>in</strong>g<br />

quality under suitably controlled conditions, such as the use of appropriate equipment,<br />

suitable environmental conditions for accomplish<strong>in</strong>g the activity, and assurance that<br />

prerequisites for the given activity have been satisfied. The program shall provide for any<br />

special controls, processes, test equipment, tools, and skills to atta<strong>in</strong> the required quality<br />

and for verification of quality.<br />

The program shall provide for <strong>in</strong>doctr<strong>in</strong>ation and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, as necessary, of personnel<br />

perform<strong>in</strong>g activities affect<strong>in</strong>g quality to assure that suitable proficiency is achieved and<br />

ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed. Management of those organizations implement<strong>in</strong>g the quality assurance<br />

program, or portions thereof, shall regularly assess the adequacy of that part of the<br />

program for which they are responsible and shall assure its effective implementation.<br />

Supplement 2S‐1: Certification;Qualification of personnel; <strong>in</strong>doctr<strong>in</strong>ation; tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g;<br />

determ<strong>in</strong>ation of <strong>in</strong>itial capability; evaluation of performance; certificate of qualification;<br />

and physical characteristics; and Records of qualification.<br />

Supplement 2S‐2: Amplified requirements for the qualification of personnel who<br />

perform radiographic (RT), magnetic particle (MT), ultrasonic (UT), liquid penetrant<br />

(PT), electromagnetic (ET), neutron radiographic (NRT), leak test<strong>in</strong>g (LT), acoustic<br />

emission (AE), and visual test<strong>in</strong>g (VT) [here<strong>in</strong>after referred to as nondestructive<br />

exam<strong>in</strong>ation (NDT)] to verify conformance to specified requirements.<br />
