<strong>Regional</strong> <strong>Basic</strong> <strong>Professional</strong> <strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>Course</strong> (BPTC) on Nuclear Safety<br />

These are complemented by safety <strong>in</strong>dicators, such as, the number and severity of<br />

significant events, the number of outstand<strong>in</strong>g work orders, and the duration of<br />

unavailability of safety systems, etc.<br />

Corporate and plant management receive regular reviews of the safety performance of the<br />

plant. Safety performance is one of the major <strong>in</strong>dicators of the effectiveness of the Safety<br />

Culture. Safety performance reviews may also <strong>in</strong>clude comparisons with the performance<br />

of other NPPs. Performance <strong>in</strong>dicators and their significance are also dissem<strong>in</strong>ated to<br />

plant personnel.<br />

A program for analyz<strong>in</strong>g external events as well as lessons learned from other NPPs is<br />

established <strong>in</strong> order to improve plant safety and reliability. Information applicable to the<br />

plant is evaluated and actions are carried out, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g dissem<strong>in</strong>ation of <strong>in</strong>formation to<br />

plant personnel.<br />

The plant organization has sufficient resources and dedicated manpower for evaluation<br />

and feedback of operat<strong>in</strong>g experience <strong>in</strong> a timely manner. Responsibilities are clearly<br />

def<strong>in</strong>ed and understood. Managers and supervisors are sufficiently <strong>in</strong>volved to ensure<br />

completion of given tasks. There is general plant awareness of the program, and<br />

personnel are familiar with their OEF responsibilities.<br />

Typical documents present<strong>in</strong>g operational experience feedback practices <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />

Description of the OEF program for the plant;<br />

Adm<strong>in</strong>istrative procedures for deal<strong>in</strong>g with screen<strong>in</strong>g, evaluation, distribution and<br />

feedback of operational experience;<br />

Qualifications of <strong>in</strong>volved personnel, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g experience and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g;<br />

Material regard<strong>in</strong>g evaluation of <strong>in</strong>‐house events;<br />
