recommended that actual trip po<strong>in</strong>ts, where possible, be set more conservatively than<br />

10.6.2.1 Criteria : Reactors with or without Eng<strong>in</strong>eered Cool<strong>in</strong>g System<br />

An LSSS shall be specified for automatic protection devices related to those variables<br />

hav<strong>in</strong>g safety limits.<br />

10.7. LIMITING CONDITIONS FOR<br />

OPERATIONS<br />

10.7.1. Reactor Core Parameters<br />

Limits shall be established for the follow<strong>in</strong>g: (1) excess reactivity; (2) shutdown marg<strong>in</strong>;<br />

(3) pulse limits (e.g., reactivity, peak power, energy, fuel temperature); (4) core<br />

configurations; (5) fuel burnup, as appropriate; (6) fuel <strong>in</strong>spection, if appropriate.<br />

10.7.2. Reactor Control and Safety Systems<br />

The follow<strong>in</strong>g shall be specified: (1) m<strong>in</strong>imum number of operable control rods (operable<br />

to be specified <strong>in</strong> terms of maximum scram times); (2) maximum reactivity <strong>in</strong>sertion rate<br />
