• Anomalies <strong>in</strong> distributions of reactivity and power;<br />

• Increase <strong>in</strong> reactor coolant <strong>in</strong>ventory;<br />

• Decrease <strong>in</strong> reactor coolant <strong>in</strong>ventory;<br />

• Radioactive release from a subsystem or component.<br />

The second and third categorizations are often used to analyze the operat<strong>in</strong>g events,<br />

which can be useful to feedback the lessons‐learned to design and operation.<br />

8.3. ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA<br />

The applicable acceptance criteria used <strong>in</strong> accident analysis typically depend on the<br />

objective of the analysis (e.g. design or licens<strong>in</strong>g), on the frequency of the <strong>in</strong>itiat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

events, on the related safety aspects and on the exist<strong>in</strong>g high level limits for accident<br />

consequences. Thus, different levels of criteria exist for AOOs, for DBAs and for BDBAs<br />

or SAs, respectively.<br />
