8.5.4. Anomalies <strong>in</strong> distributions of reactivity and power<br />

For a PWR, the <strong>in</strong>itiat<strong>in</strong>g events that can result <strong>in</strong> reactivity and power distribution<br />

anomalies are as follows:<br />

• Uncontrolled Control Element Assembly (CEA) withdrawal from subcritical or<br />

low power condition;<br />

• Uncontrolled CEA withdrawal at power;<br />

• S<strong>in</strong>gle full strength CEA drop;<br />

• Startup of an <strong>in</strong>active reactor coolant loop;<br />

• Inadvertent deboration;<br />

• Inadvertent load<strong>in</strong>g of a fuel assembly <strong>in</strong>to the improper position;<br />

• CEA ejection.<br />
