8.5.2. Decrease <strong>in</strong> Heat Removal by the Secondary Side<br />

For a PWR, the <strong>in</strong>itiat<strong>in</strong>g events that can result <strong>in</strong> decrease <strong>in</strong> heat removal by secondary<br />

side are as follows:<br />

• Loss of external load;<br />

• Turb<strong>in</strong>e trip;<br />

• Loss of condenser vacuum;<br />

• Ma<strong>in</strong> steam isolation valve closure;<br />

• Loss of nonemergency AC power to the station auxiliaries;<br />

• Loss of normal feedwater flow;<br />

• Feed water system pipe break.<br />
