At issue would be the intersection of two types of economy that cannot be reduced solely
to their national scales: an economy of dispossession and unemployment and the socalled
narcotics economy. Related discussions would have to address the destiny of huge
segments of young people from the standpoint of abandonment in terms of social
inequality and human regression, before scrutinizing their involvement in the drug wars.

Los relatos recogidos en No nacimos pa’semilla dan cuenta de prácticas que se generan
en situaciones de marginalidad que, no obstante, no son ajenas a la dinámica económica que rige
la sociedad latinoamericana contemporánea. Su carácter marginal se establece no porque sean
exteriores al orden social instituido 4
pues la estructura misma del capitalismo produce masivas
exclusiones, grupos subalternos que sobreviven en condiciones de extrema pobreza en los
márgenes de las sociedades modernas. Con todo, es importante advertir que el calificativo de
marginal no alude de forma exclusiva a la precaria situación económica de estas poblaciones. El
denominador apunta de manera preferente a un conjunto de prácticas que, desde el discurso
hegemónico, se conciben como extrañas a una norma instaurada y legitimada, de forma
ciertamente arbitraria, por ese mismo discurso de la oficialidad.
