2. Summary
Under the described assumptions (energy concept of the German Federal Government including
phasing out nuclear energy), the scenario of embedding xEV in the German energy
system shows that an xEV fleet can contribute to a cost-effective CO 2 reduction strategy. The
consumption of petroleum products in the transport sector is reduced by a maximum of 5%
in 2030. An xEV fleet will contribute to an overall CO 2 reduction strategy cutting emissions by
5 to 10 million tons in 2030, depending on charging strategy and weather conditions for wind
power generation.
