Traditional and modern in partnerships and projects practices 421the year, the temperature differences in the four seasons, the changes innature, the holidays in each season and how are these celebrated in theworld.A popular theme is the protection of the living environment, thus oneof the most required project is the: Let’s protect the environment!. Theproject is addressed to elementary school children and has as objectivesthe following:• making children aware of the need for a responsible behaviourtowards nature;• making children interested in environment protection;• introducing them to the concept of ecosystem – water, air, heat,light;• promoting a critical attitude toward those who violate the ecologicalrules;• helping children see the beauty of the nature and human works, inorder to protect the environment;• nurturing the interest and the curiosity for knowledge in ecology,so that all these lead to a responsible ecological behaviour;• presenting the main environment pollution sources and the methodsto diminish or stop pollution;• promoting and using the library’s collections, services and facilitiesto increase the activities’ efficiency and to get the students involved,as an active member in the community’s life.In the environment protection activities are used materials given by theSomes Water Company (the library’s partner in this project), interactiveand entertaining learning methods, environmental projects, fashion showswith ecological costumes, advertising materials with ecological content.For the children aged 11 to 12, the library started the Education byreading project. The project aims to diversify the way general cultureclasses are held. The activities are organized in the library and they includethe followings:• presentations of authors and of children book collections;• interactive discussions on the chosen topic;• literary and entertaining contests;• film screenings inspired by the latest children books;• workshops that end up with exhibits of the works created.The combined use of PowerPoint presentations, library materials, gamesand artistic works motivate the children to participate in the discussionsand to express their personal opinions on the topic.The experiences gained during these years, the wish for continuing
