DACOROMANICA – THE DOCUMENTATION ACT 933Works. After this step, DACOROMANICA will be completed with copiesof the items described in the Bibliography of the Old Romanian Works, thatare not available in Romania, but which are carefully preserved in certainforeign libraries. Simultaneously, the structure of the Bibliography of theOld Romanian Works shall be entirely modified in the sense of redefiningof the concept of old Romanian book. The chosen criteria are:1. The place of publication, represented by the historic territory ofRomania, regardless the language in which the book was printed;2. The Romanian language, regardless where the book was printed;3. The Romanian source of funding the printing of the book, regardlessthe place where actually the book was printed or the language used. The linguistic and geographical coverage: mostly a Romanian collectionDACOROMANICA is primarily interested to what has been publishedin Romanian language in our country and abroad, and to what has beenwritten about Romania, regardless the language. The purpose is thesame for the rest of the Romanian minorities all over the world, and forthe Jewish communities of Romanian origins. The fact that extremelyvaluable foreign documents have enriched in the last decade the collectionsof the Metropolitan Library of Bucharest gives an impetus to reconsiderkeeping those boundaries too rigid. A selective annotated bibliography ofthe references about Romanians in the foreign books is planned, especiallythose around year 1600, the year of the first great union of the Romanianprovinces under Michael the Brave. The Library of the Romanian Academy shall create a coherentproject regarding the manuscripts and periodical collections. The worksin Romanian language remain a priority for DACOROMANICA, but also
