The distribution of the Minee of Budathroughout Moldavia (1804-1805)Elena ChiaburuEconomy and Bussiness Management Faculty – IaşiA monumental undertaking, the issuance of the Minee of Buda (1804-1805) was made possible in the beginning of the 19th century through anample collaboration among the scholars of Transylvania, Wallachia andMoldovia. It is a known fact that on January 24 th 1804, the Imperial Courtof Vienna granted Ioan Piuariu Molnar a privilegium exclusivum to print aGreat Minei, including 12 volumes, one for each month of the year, in thePesta University Press. The edition would be of 1000 copies per volume, meaning a total of 12000 copies, and Doctor Molnar would also have theexclusive rights to sell the books for a period of ten years from the issuance. The Great Minei printed in Buda in 1804-1805 is a re-edition of theMinei that was issued in Wallachia by the Episcopacy of Rîmnic, between1776 and 1780. The notification of Iosif Sevastos, the Bishop of Argeş,suggests that the news of the release reached him only after the March, Mayand August issues had been printed with many errors. The inaccuracieswere revised by Bishop Iosif, the faulty sheets were reprinted and the pressissued the whole publication again in 1805, while the deficient copies werepulled off the market. Iosif asked that the volumes destined for Wallachiabe printed separately. This is why the two editions of the Minee of Budacan be distinguished by the contents of the title page: the edition destinedfor Transylvania mentions Ştefan Stratimirovici, the Archbishop andMetropolitan of Carlovitz, who allowed the issuance and Emperor FranciscI, while the edition intended for Wallachia states the Bishop of Argeş’scontribution to the issuance of the book and mentions Metropolitan DositeiFilliti and Constantin Ipsilanti, Ruler of Wallachia 1 .1A.
