The incorporation of Epirus into the Greek state... 835simultaneous to the Greek-Italian War and the Nazi occupation of Greece,they all produce a picture of an unsuccessful process of incorporating theminto state structures and Greek society, of their treatment as a ’foreignbody’, of the central authorities’ and state institutions’ lack of acceptingthem. The events, which marked the Second World War, were the inevitableconsequence of the developments which preceded in previous decades andwhich led to their definitive exodus from Greek territory.
