The nucleus is common: a rite reproducing the act ofhunting, followed by an interaction with a model of an animal, and keepingof its symbol. (Ibidem: 177-178)Because of its peripheral essence various shamanic traditions mayreflect at least partially the “natural substratum”, which became a basisfor further influences of the more developed cultures. Therefore it is notpossible to follow Eliade in his definition of shamanism as a cult of huntersand cattle-breeders, which was prior to the agricultural cults.
