On March 23 rd 1823, priest "Theodor Murgenenu,of the city of Bîrlad, from the Sfîntul Pro(oro)c Ilei Church, "aMarch Minei" for a price of 31 lei, on the day of the city celebrations, at thefair, from a deacon from Creţana, the brother of father Vasile Spanache"."And the book was very damaged". Finally, on February 4 th 1836, a JulyMinei was bought "for the price of 10 lei, 20 par(ale) and was given" to theSf. Dumitru Misai Church in Iaşi. On March 25 th 1838, a December Minei"was bought by Ioachem Iarhană and his wife, Maria , for the price oftwo roubles" 24 .The conclusion of the facts so far is that two types of Minee were editedin Buda, one for Transylvania and another one for Wallachia, and that thetotal was of about 1000 copies, but in this stage of our research we do notknow the exact number for each region. The books were distributed withthe help of traders, and the prices varied depending on the state of the bookand on the context in which the transactions took place, while the paymentswere made in various currencies.The analysis of the annotations on the books shows that the ownersof the Minee were often halidoms. Even if a private person, either a clericor a laic, bought the Minee, this person would usually donate the books toa church or monastery, but naturally, there were also cases when the printwas bought for one’s own use.24Ibidem, 383 şi 535.
