He offers [these items] on the child's head, [saying]: “I commend youto the sky and earth!” With two stanzas of ŚS 8.2.14-15, with two of ŚS 2.29.1-2, and withtwo of ŚS 13.1.59-60, “I commend you to the rice and barley !” With one stanza of ŚS8.2.<strong>20</strong>, with two stanzas of ŚS 2.29.1-2, and with two of ŚS 13.2.59-60, “I commend youto the day and night!” With one stanza of ŚS 8.2.22, with two stanzas of ŚS 2.29.1-2, andwith two of ŚS 13.2.59-60, he offers on the child's head rice and barley, the śamī leaves,and the water, [saying]: “I commend you to the seasons!” Thus he accomplishes the four“commendations”.”16V.
