DACOROMANICA – THE DOCUMENTATION ACT 931Under these circumstances, we have called upon the Library of theRomanian Academy, that is the actual National Library of Romania, totake this responsibility. This politics renders Dacoromanica II to work asa means of collaboration. The intention of DACOROMANICA to opentowards other institutions follows in the line of the system of partnerships,in order to answer to the expectations of the possible partners who aregetting more and more interested by the projects of shared digitisation.These partnerships for creating a shared digitisation aim at emphasising thecomplementary character of the collections and at underlining the value ofthe professional competences.DACOROMANICA represents an encyclopaedic virtual library, madeof manuscripts and all categories of printed documents, sound and videorecordings. The initial project, the Dacoromanica I, was restricted to theschool demands, but the digitised contents were based on valuable criticaleditions, answering in this way to the requirements of the research activity.The web allows the access to the rare, out of print, and otherwise littleaccessible materials. DACOROMANICA is a tool of scientific researchdissemination and thus a fundamental support for research, and enhances aremarkable discovery of the cultural national heritage.• DACOROMANICA sets a note apart in the national program ofdocuments preservation. Soon, the digital support shall replace thepaper printed works and the silver substitution support, as wellas the other recording supports. For all the documents physicallythreatened, the item protected by digitisation shall be accessibleon the DACOROMANICA site. In a number of cases, this policyof preservation may unsystematically tangle with the politics ofdocumentation of DACOROMANICA. The final scope is that oflaunching on the web the quasi-totality of the collections containingRomanian bibliographies.• The documents from DACOROMANICA are free from copyright.A library of original documentary corpusDACOROMANICA is a tool of dissemination of the written, iconographic,audio and video heritage. Thus, we are going to offer the users a seriesof corpuses linked with one or more subjects highlighted through specificbibliographies. One subject has to include several hundreds of documentsand accordingly, it becomes necessary to create databases for an author, aschool of thoughts, or a subject. It will arrive that, for a certain period, thecollections may not be entirely presented. DACOROMANICA does notclaim to be exhaustive. The criteria presented above are constantly used indeveloping the programs.
