The first Serbian grammarbooks were also edited here 19 , and the vlach Riga Fereu of Veleştin, thepromoter of the Greek revolution used to print his proclamations andrevolutionary songs (for example The perennial hymn), which led to theexile of the brothers to states of the monarchy at the intervention of theottoman authorities and their printing house was closed in 1798.Here were printed a series of works which make up the beginning ofthe Romanian medical literature such as those belonging to the Darvarifamily native of Clisura family which had a lot of doctors and philosophersthat were also editing books.Nicolae Darvari, a well known scholar, published several works withdifferent subjects: history, geography, pedagogy, philosophy, etc. The mostimportant are: The universal history in short, in two volumes, printed inVienna between 1817-1818, which had on its title page the mention “atthe expenses of brothers Ioan and Marcu Darvari; “Mai nainte gătire sprecunoştiinţa de Dumnezeu” in 1818, in Buda, translated by Iancu NicolaeMoldoveanu and “Greek book of fine cookery, Bucharest, 1827, printed“for the third time” “being necessary for those whose start learning Greeklanguage”.Another member of this family is Constantin I. Darvari – well knowndoctor, the author of a remarkable scientific work with medical profiledating from 1785. He was also a supporter of the printing of a book calledThe door to repentance (1812), a significant book which facilitated manyinterromanian relations. The work appeared in Braşov, “with the blessingand the help of metropolitan bishop Dosithei, on the expenses of ConstantinIoan Boghici “for the benefit of the orthodox Christians”, it was translatedand blessed by monk Rafael from Neamt monastery. Besides metropolitanbishop and C.I. Darvari, bishops from Buzău and Argeş, members ofBrîncoveanu, Golescu, Văcărescu etc helped with the printing of the book.Dimitrie Darvari known as author of philosophical handbooks,published the first medical scientific paper belonging to a Romanian, hisdoctor’s degree paper and George Darvari will help support the printing ofOmul de lume in Romanian language.The Caracaş Family also helped at the printing and elaboration of theold romanian book through its members Dimitrie and Constantin Caracaş.Doctor Dimitrie Caracaş, the headmaster of Pantelimon Hospital(founded in 1735) is the author of a important and rare book Medical poems18Hâciu, Anastase 1936, Aromânii: Comerţ: Industrie: Arte: Civilizaţie, Focşani:Tipografia Cartea Putnei.19Papahagi, Pericle, op. cit., 49.
