Ritual and state in contemporary Mongolia. The case of Chinggis Khan 567in? Such questions cannot of course be answered easily. One can observe,and opinion surveys confirm it, that many Mongols today believe in somesort of spirits, forces or gods. At the level of the state, we have seen that anassumed religiosity co-exists with modern political institutions (democracy,pluralism, and secularism), social structures and economic system.
