422 Corina Anca Pervaineducation and the devotion of the Department’s staff lead in the summer of2008 to a new challenge, The ENTITLE Project – Europe’s New LibrariesTogether in Transversal Learning Environments. The project is currently running in 12 European countries, “OctavianGoga” Cluj County Library being the coordinator for Romania. Thelibrary’s role is to promote and to encourage the implementation of the bestpractices of the European public libraries in supporting lifelong learning. These activities are meant for all age groups and social categories, and theybuild on the existing communicational networks to promote the programsand initiatives. The project’s goal is to develop and to implement guidelinesfor the assessment of the lifelong learning activities in libraries. The Children’s Department participated in the ENTITLE Europeanproject with the The holiday Reading Club, during the summer holidays, both in 2008 and in 2009.The participant children were aged 10 to 14, each group having 12to 16 children in its composition. The program for each group lasted twoweeks and had as objectives:• combining static activities (reading) with dynamic and funactivities, selecting some socialising games;• gaining at least one skill or ability;• making children aware of the importance of reading in their life;• asking children to work in teams, to choose their leader and to setthe tasks for each group member;• stimulating creativity and imagination, correct speaking, improvingtheir vocabulary and self-confidence;• perceiving the library as a warm, modern, welcoming place, whereyou can combine reading with playing, creation with recreation, and entertainment with study. The project’s framework was set based on the GLO’s model (carriedout by the Galeries and Museums Research Center – RCMG from GreatBritain for the Museum, Libraries and Archives Council – MLA), whichdefines the social and cultural aspects of learning and offers indicatorsand methods for measuring them. The five aspects of the GLO’s learningmodel were used to organize the activities, which were assessed with thefollowing indicators and methods:• knowledge and understanding;• competencies and abilities;• attitudes and values;• entertainment, inspiration, creativity;• activity, behaviour and progress.
