936 DACOROMANICA – THE DOCUMENTATION ACTcollections, most of them unique, problem that forces us to also consider apolitics of preservation.This construction site cannot and must not hinder the continuous growthof DACOROMANICA and therefore it shall need complementary means.The projected chronologic balance works besides the plan of digitisation ofthe Romanian press from the 19 th century.2) The digitisation of the images and the voice collectionsThe interest of being associated with other partners, such as the RomanianSociety of Broadcasting, the Company “Electrecord”, the National MovieArchive, the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore of the RomanianAcademy, represents a sine qua non condition for the simultaneous andbalanced growth of the collections of voice and video recordings, besidesthe printed documents.Digitised databases of text and image shall be in virtual correspondence.In this way DACOROMANICA shall be a unique tool enhancing multiplecontacts, which are by now insufficiently put into practice. From thispoint of view, the technique of digitisation offers many new possibilities.We intend to sign a protocol with the National Movie Archive for thedigitisation of the Romanian movies, priority being given to the filmadaptations of the great literary works. The collection of vinyl discs fromthe Metropolitan Library of Bucharest shall be digitised. In the sametime, we shall sign collaboration with the Company “Electrecord” and theInstitute of Ethnography and Folklore of the Romanian Academy.The image and voice collections that are going to be digitised are in fullharmony with the content of the DACOROMANICA as an encyclopaedicand research library. This fact imposes a balance between image, voice andtext contents.DACOROMANICA and the EditingDACOROMANICA represents the long distance propagation of a greatresearch library, reason for which we understand to continue offering access to abig number of texts, images, and audio-video items.DACOROMANICA’s policy is different from that of the commercialpublishing houses.
