930 DACOROMANICA – THE DOCUMENTATION ACTfor the year 2010 is to add more than 1,500,000 pages, 1,500 images andsound contents. The documents belong to the period from the Middle Ageto the beginning of the 20 th century. Our aim is to create a heritage and encyclopaedic library. The politicsfor the documents is based on a corpus of authors, on collections ofjournals and editorial series, on bibliographical tools, on encyclopaedicand linguistic tools, and on the collections created on thematic files, all inmulti-media format.Short history of the project:March 1999: the beginning of the selection for the digitisation and thecreation of a digitised content of 6,500 pages;2001: the organisation of Dacoromanica I and the publication of the projectas a tender offer for the auction;2002: the republishing of the project Dacoromanica I as a tender offer for theauction;2005: writing the Documentation Act for Dacromanica II;2007: the organisation of the actual version of Dacoromanica II, withdocuments from the public domain and from Romanian and foreign privatecollections. The axis of developmentThe Metropolitan Library of Bucharest writes in 2005 The DocumentationAct for Dacoromanica II and increases its financial means. It answers tothe new challenges, with the help of the National Library of France, that in2001 has given the copyright for adapting in Romanian language the systemof indexation RAMEAU. The experiences of the previous tender offershave been considered for organising the auction in 2001 and 2002. TheDocumentation Act takes into consideration the existence of the digitisedcollections carried out by the libraries that intend to become associatepartners and the possibility of collaboration with institutions that have thevocation of becoming partners for the development of their own digitisedcollections. The main principles enounced by The Documentation Act are: libraryfor research; encyclopaedic collection for enhancing the pre-universityand university education; the access to rare and out of print documents;rebalancing of the domains of knowledge; the importance given toRomanian language; the reconsideration of the medieval, modern andcontemporaneous historical periods. The forces and resources of theMetropolitan Library of Bucharest alone could not fulfil these objectives.
