The peasants, thanks to their“natural” conservatism, were capable to keep their language and traditions[…], but weren’t able to understand the abstract concepts about nation,state, social and national emancipation…” 16IV. The general evaluation of the stage of ethnic development ofAromanians in the time of referenceThis positioning variety of Aromanian social groups confirms theconstructivist thesis which says that “identities and loyalties that can be built,consolidated, destroyed or changed with the same social “easiness” withwhich most individuals auto-identify themselves in the daily existence” 17 .The feeling of mutual belongingness (based on a common mythof descent, some common notions of history, traditions and customs, alanguage and a religion, a feeling of solidarity and kinship, an associationwith a specific territory) is necessary in order to blend an ethno-linguisticcommunity, but not enough to enable a complete maturation of the ethnicidentity.According to I. Fruntaşu, the formation of national consciousnessis also a historical process of political integration, characterized by ameaningful increasing of the communication between the members ofthe said collectivity through: urbanization, the educational system, thedevelopment of markets, increasing interaction between isolated villages,marts and cities, the development of the communication and transportinfrastructure 18 .out of history. It had been determined by internal structures but also by external ones,being difficult to prioritise between the two the intractibility is generated by the incapacityto appropriate, which in turn drawn forward hostile forces, because the subjugation ofindividuals does not represent a great difficulty. The social/ national intractibility ofAromanians could generate only a proto-nationality. The term is taken from English –intractibility – 1. Refractory, difficult, intractable character; 2.
