868 Apostolos PATELAkisAlso in this period were reedited the works of some specialists, so as thoseof Lazarou in 1986, Averof in 1992, Koltsidas in 1993, Georgiades in 1995,after nearly a century and Keramopoulos in 2000.It is interesting the fact that the first translations of some foreignspecialists appear, too. Thus, in 2001 was published, in Greek, the firstvolume of Gustav Weigand’study The Macedonian Romanians, and in2004 its second volume. 24The two volumes of G. Weigand were published by the Philological,Historical and Literary Society of Trikala for two reasons. Firstly, for theGreek readers to learn more about the Vlachs and secondly, because ithad been found that a lot of people referred to this classical work, writtenin 1895, but without having read it in reality. The translation of the firstvolume was achieved by the professor Thede Kahl, who also had had theidea of translating this book.In 2009 was published the Thede Kahl’s work About the identity ofthe Vlachs. An etno-cultural approach of a Balkanic reality. 25 The studyof the Austrian researcher was well received by the specialists and theGreek public, as the author made in it an objective presentation, withoutprovoking and without playing the part of an omniscient. The post-war period is divided into two sub-periods. The first periodis comprised between 1948 and 1978, that is from Averof to Lazarou. The representatives of the two camps continue to write in the directionswhich were already previously established, without bringing significativecontributions. Moreover, the majority of these works are written inKatharevusa, language of the administration, which is difficult to understandwithout a serious preparation. Today, all this books may be found only inlibraries, excepting 2 or 3 which were republished. The second period lasts since 1976 till now. In 1976 due to thepublications of Achilleas Lazarou’s book The Macedo-Romanian languageand its connections with the Greek, the things changed radically. All theintellectuals agreed with the results of the study realised by Lazarou and infact we can say that in broad outline, the dispute between the two campsended, the majority accepting the autochthon theory. The works are writtenin the Demotic language, easy to understand, and thus, a larger numberof readers has access to the results of the new researches in this field.Although over the last 30 years a lot of writings in this speciality have24Gustav Weigand, The Macedonian Romanians. 2001, Vol. I; 2004, Vol. II,Thessaloniki.25Thede Kahl 2009, About the Vlachs identity. An etno-cultural approach of aBalkan reality. Athens.
