Another important quantity is represented by thecorpuses of historical documents. It is not our intention to emphasize thisactual state of affairs, because, as one knows, there is a limit that must becrossed in order for a digital content to reach a critical mass for research.There must be a balance between the growth of these two classes ofdocuments and the other types of documents. The quantity of the latter islimited, but we shall always struggle to keep a balance.In the next period, we intend to develop other domains: linguistics,literature, philosophy, religion, and law. The growth of the arts domainshall be planned according to the projects of sharing with our partners.Two primary construction sites1) The digitization of journals and pressThe journals are nowadays in great demand. Our priority is to makecomplete the most important journal titles in order to fulfil a desideratum.However, this project cannot be put into practice without the support of thenewest techniques in order to facilitate the access to the journals, browsingin tables, etc.Daily newspapers represent another construction site. The newspapersof the 19 th century remain hardly accessible although it represents animportant source for research. We have to make selections at this phase,because aiming at exhaustiveness is an utopia.We are trying some technical solutions for the digitization of the oldpress printed in a large format. However, we hope to launch from 2010 amassive plan of digitizing three million pages, plan that will represent anadded value for the propagation of the Romanian language and culture.Another problem is represented by the advance stay of decay of many
