Even a cursory review of its symptoms will satisfy anyone that Aconite is homoeopatic to acute hypersemia of the lungs. If the disease was caused by a fit of anger, or vehement chagrin,or mortification, Aconite is indicated so much more fully. Belladonna has likewise many symptoms pointing to pulmonary congestion, but it is not so easy to determine the conditions for whichBelladonna is indicated ; they likewise occur less frequently. Bedonna is preferable if not only the lungs, but likewise the cephaorgans are involved in the congestion, and it is less depending ucardiac disease than upon some other affection. Leading symptomsdistinguished from those of Aconite are: turgescence of the cephavessels, with dark redness of the face, bluish redness of the lipglistening eyes ; anguish and restlessness ; a constant dry, hackcough, or else a spasmodic and dry cough. In such affections, however, there is every reason why the medicine should begiven very cautiously. It is not absolutely necessary for the heato be the starting-point of the disease or to be considerably invin the pathological process, for uncomplicated, tubercular hyperemias of the lungs are likewisis most easily relieved by DigitaliBryonia is the next best remedy to this latter drug. In very acutcases which may become dangerous to life by the premature supervention of an acute oedema of the lungs, no time should be lost unecessarily by awaiting the effect of the first-named three remedif they act at all, they will show their curative influence aftervery first dose.
