The cause ofmastitis is always traceable to the impeded excretion of the milkBy some cause or other, soreness or a bad shape of the nipples, tfeeble drawing by the child, one or more lactiferous ducts becomeclosed, the milk in the corresponding mammary lobule becomesstagnant, and an inflammatory process is the result. Another causof obstruction of the milk-ducts is the improper manner in whichsome women wear their clothes, owing to which the breasts eitherbang too loosely or a direct pressure is exerted upon them.
