Nuz is undoubtedly one <strong>of</strong> our more important feverremedies; it will not be difficult to determine its homoeopathieiin given cases. In inveterate cases Nuz would not <strong>of</strong>ten be ourchoice. It is likewise an important remedy if the fever is complicated with bronchitis.Veratrum album is likewise one <strong>of</strong> our most important fever andague remedies; marked chill which is slowly followed by heat, witconvulsive symptoms and great thirst, vomiting or retching, quickfeeble and small pulse ; stupor during the hot stage, with blanddelirium; the third stage is not strikingly marked. In febriacomitata Veratrum album is an important remedy if the cerebralsymptoms, the pulmonary hypersemia and the pr<strong>of</strong>use intestinalcatarrh are prominently developed.Arsenicum, in our estimation is still more important than China;its range <strong>of</strong> action is still more extensive. In recent cases it iindicated by the following symptoms: Intensity and long duration<strong>of</strong> the paroxysms, especially burning heat; unquenchable thirstduring the whole attack, and extreme anxiety and restlessnessexcept during the sweaty stage, attended with palpitation <strong>of</strong> theheart, and a subdued, accelerated pulse; moreover functionalderangements <strong>of</strong> single organs. Arsen, is indicated the more specifically the cleaner the tongue remains in extremely violent paroxysms, the more rapidly the strength is exhausted by the singleparoxysm and the sooner the characteristic sallow pallor makes itappearance. For this reason Arsen. is an important remedy inendemic fever and ague. In congestive chills the imminentparalysis <strong>of</strong> the heart points to Arsenicum beside Verat. alb. ; A18 likewise indicated if the fever is complicated with severe choIn fever and ague cachexia Arsen. is a sovereign remedy. Its effeis truly marvellous. With a single dose <strong>of</strong> Arsenicum 30 we havecured a cachexia <strong>of</strong> thirteen weeks' standing. <strong>The</strong> patient, a veryrobust man, presented the picture <strong>of</strong> a complete phthisis florida;he was cured even without leaving his home situated in a trulymalarious region <strong>of</strong> country. Another case <strong>of</strong> nine montlia' stand*Intermittent Fever. 673ing was cured by means <strong>of</strong> a few doses <strong>of</strong> Arsen, 30, so completelythat even the hypertrophied spleen was reduced back again to itsnatural size. <strong>The</strong> patient was a Hollander who brought the diseasewith him; after residing in our very healthy city for four monthsand swallowing large quantities <strong>of</strong> Quinine^ all the symptoms <strong>of</strong>phthisis florida had developed themselves. — Arsen. is not only atever-remedy, but likewise an antidote to Quinine.
