Orchitis is certainly not to be regarded as such ametastasis and, as regards gonorrhoeal rheumatism, which is admitted even by the most obstinate sceptics, we are not quite surewhether the medicines which the patient took, have not more to dowith it than the gonorrhoea. Under homoeopathic treatment wehave never yet met with a single case of pretended metastasis.Treatment. Hartmann's views in respect to the treatment ofgonorrhoea differ from our own in many respects.According to Hartmann, Hahnemann gives the following instructions for the treatment of gonorrhoea: "Sycosic gonorrhoea is curmost certainly and radically by the internal use of Thuya^ whichhomoeopathic to this disease, giving one dose of a few pellets of80th potency, which, if no improvement has taken place in twenty, thirty or forty days, is to be followed by an equally small dosethe I2th potency of Nitric add which must be permitted to act foran equally long period. The miasm of the other benign kinds ofgonorrhoea does not seem to infect the general organism, and to rUrethritis. 7main localized in the nrinary organs. This kind of gonorrhoea yieto a single drop of the fresh jnice of parsley (succns Petroselinprovided the frequent urging to urinate indicates this drug, or tdrop of an alcoholic solution of Copaiva, unless the intense inflmation and the debilitating treatment have roused the latent psorwhich hitherto had been slumbering in the organism of the patientin which case it often happens that a lingering gonorrhoea is excinto action which will only yield to an antipsoric treatment." Hamann replies to these statements in the following words: ^^Thesimple gonorrhoea yields only in a few cases to the tincture of pley or to the alcoholic solution of Copaiva: nor have I been ablecure sycosic gonorrhoea with nothing but Thuya ; in general thiskind of gonorrhoea cannot well be separated from the benign form, unless condylomata are present, or the patient knows positively tthe woman who infected him, had sycosis. The same remark applies to figwarts. Quite recently I treated a case of sycosic conlomata which would not yield to Thuya, but got well in ten daysafter a single dose of Kitric acid 1 ; in another case I effectedwith two doses of Oinnaharia; in other cases other mercurial preparations were required." At a later period he adds: ^^In manycases of gonorrhoea all three remedies proposed by Hahnemann, andeven many others, have to be used for a cure." — ^'^I know now thgonorrhoea which sets in with great violence at first, is much moeasily managed, if Thuya is used at once at the commencement.Nevertheless, I admit that I am as yet unable to distinguish sycogonorrhoea from any other form unless condylomata are present.Gonorrhoea attended with condylomata is in most cases a secondaryaffection, as may be inferred from the fact that it disappears sitaneously with the sycosic disease against which the treatment hato be directed."The idea of a so-called gonorrhoeal disease is very plainly enunciate in the preceding paragraph. It is evident that the doctrinea sycosic miasm owes its origin to the difficulty of explaining thttp://www.archive.org/stream/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog_djvu.txt
