So far as Rhus is concerned, weknow positively that the remedy is usually given without anybenefit, although its symptomatic similarity would seem to recommend it, and as regards Eaphorbium^ we have no clinical evidenceof its curative influence in this disease. Mercurius sometimes seto prevent the breaking out of new clusters of vesicles. Mezereumis a remedy that renders excellent service in some respects and w490 Diseases of the Skin.we cannot recommend with sufficient warmth, since intercostalneuralgia very seldom occurs after its use. "We likewise suggestOleum croionia for experimental trials. The treatment of the subsequent neuralgia has been discussed in a former chapter.d. Herpes Iris and Circinnatus. Both these forms being essentially identical, we describe themtogether.Herpes iris consists of a larger vesicle or bulla which is not unfrequently filled with a blood-tinged liquid, and is surrounded bwreath of smaller vesicles round whose external border another anlarger wreath may form. The course is the same as that of otherherpetic vesicles. The efflorescences first appear on the dorsa othe feet or hands, spreading on the extensor-surfaces from belowupwards, and the new clusters of vesicles appearing either in thesame relative position as the vesicles of herpes generally, or elagain assuming the form of herpes iris. This form of herpes mostfrequently occurs among women and children.Herpes circinnatus which comes out in the same manner as herpesiris, is distinguished from the latter by the circumstance that tcentral bulla is missing, and that only the wreath of vesicles ispresent.Essentially both forms represent a form of herpes zoster on theextremities, so much more as they are sometimes succeeded by apeculiar pain which is not quite as severe as intercostal neuralgThis affection which is altogether of rare occurrence, scarcely erequires any other remedies than those that have been indicated fzoster*40. Eczema.Eczema is one of those exanthems that has given rise to an immense amount of confusion. In the following sketch we reproduceessentially the views and statements of Hebra who enjoys the undisputed merit of having first cleared up this pathological procehttp://www.archive.org/stream/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog_djvu.txt
