A small and feeble pulse, cold extremities, paless and cadaverously smelling diarrhoeic stools, oedema <strong>of</strong> the lextremities are further indications for Ars. which may still affohelp in the most desperate cases.If this remedy is not sufficient, we resort to Chininum arsenicosum 1, three to four doses a day, and order small quantities <strong>of</strong>pure old wine to be taken during the intervals.In all cases <strong>of</strong> incipient or far advanced marasmus, a strengthening diet is <strong>of</strong> the utmost importance. "We recommend broth, extrac<strong>of</strong> beef, old wine, if possible old claret, Malaga, Port or Tokaysmall quantities either pure or diluted with water ; good j)orterlikewise appropriate. <strong>The</strong> patients must be kept warm, especiallythe feet, lest other diseases should supervene.
